Notes:

1930 US Census lists Mary Hale as Mr. Cary’s stepdaughter.

Find A Grave photo of Mr. Cary’s headstone notes wife as Lena Cary (February 18, 1918). The 1920 US Census lists his wife as Elva, the name of the woman he married in 1917. Lena was most likely their daughter who perhaps died in child birth or as a child.
