  1. If you need information on the Collins/Huston side, please let me know. I took a trip to Vinton Co., Oh. I have obits and family histories on the Huston side. I am trying to validate the stories. Let me know. Wonderful website. I just don’t have the patience to do something like this. I just work on Family Tree maker. Do you have more pictures of the Collins/Huston side? Early ones????

  2. OBIT for John COLLINS:
    B: 21 NOV1840 D: 27MAR1922
Well known man crossed bar- John Collins called by death Monday. John Collins, a well known resident of Radcliff died at his home there Monday after a two weeks illness from pneumonia. Mr. Collins, who was seventy-nine years old is survived by his wife and two sons, Will Collins of this city and Frank Collins of Radcliff. He is also survived by one brother, Jesse Collins, of this city, and one sister, Mrs. Sam Zinn, of Chillicothe. The funeral was held from the home this afternoon with interment at Lincoln. Source; THE WELLSTON TELEGRAM- Wellston, Oh 29 Mar 1922 * Buried at Lincoln Cemetery ( AKA Lincoln Furnace Cem I think)

  3. Mt. Carmel and Lincoln are two different cemeteries in Jackson County, OH.
John Collins is buried in Mt. Carmel, and so are his second wife, Jane, and his brothers Jacob and James Jefferson. This information comes from their death certificates; their graves are not marked, and Mt. Carmel has no records.
John’s first wife, Martha Catharine Magoon, is buried at Whetsel Cemetery. John’s oldest son, William, is buried at Mt. Carmel (I have a photo of his gravestone). The youngest son of John and Martha, John Wesley Collins, lived and died in Athens County.
I have been researching this family for years and have a lot of information, as well as copies of documents, obituaries, and photos. I’m willing to share, just let me know what you need.

  4. Dear Maria,
I have seen your donations on the cemetery sites. I actually have wanted to e-mail you too. I think photos are the best….especially if you know who is in them. Now I really have to get my scanner working!!!!

  5. Kyle,
I did not visit any of the cemeteries in Vinton or Jackson County. I drove in from Illinois and had just a few hours to visit the local library….Wescott Library in Vinton, Oh. Also, I ran across the book on the History of the Huston Family. I have a copy downloaded at the library where I work so I will forward it as soon as I get it on a disk if you are interested.

  6. Roderick Huston, Rodney Huston, and Barbara Huston are missing under children of Alice Collins

My dad was Roderick “Rocky” J. Huston born Ohio Nov. 9, 1934 and died of lung caner Oct. 2, 1989 (Rodney’s twin, son of Alice Collins and Otto Huston) he retired from the Army in 1975 and became a resident of San Antonio, TX. I would like to know how we can link info about him and his children. He Married Annick T. Jeannel born Paris, France February 6, 1935, they had 9 children: Roderick J. Huston Jr. (he was born Daniel George, but later wanted to be Roderick so my parents had his name changed), Elisa Jean Huston, Sabina Alice Huston (after Rocky’s Mom Alice Collins-Huston and Annick’s mom Alice Monard-Jeannel), Cecilia R. Huston, Regina H. Huston (God brought her home Nov. 9, 2005, my dad’d birthday, age 42 car accident), Remy J. Huston, Corinna R. Huston, Angelica M. Huston, and Melinda M. Huston.
